We are locally-owned, and we’re proud to say we’re WOMAN-owned, too. We take our inspiration from close family who’ve opened weed shops in other parts of the country before us. We are not big and we aren’t corporate. Not even close. But we know our weed. And we’re good at listening. Whatever the occasion you have in mind, we’ll put you together with the right product. And we’re going to do it all at the best prices.
A New Era for Weed
Sure, cannabis has been around thousands of years. But this is a new age of weed. Now that it’s legal, we have choices like never before. There are so many types of flower to choose from, for starters. And if you’re not into smoking? There are edibles. Tinctures. Teas. Transdermal-bath soaks. And more. Come on in and have a look.
How We Got Here
It wasn’t easy, but it was truly beautiful. And it still is. Because we’re in business, and we have this story. About our grandmother, Grandma Flo, and how she helped us get here.
Grandma Flo started a popular retail marijuana shop in Washington state years ago. She knows the business and has been a mentor to us. But the main thing about Flo is she’s lucky. She just wins. Stuff. Raffles. Contests. Permits.
There were only five permits for retail shops in Salem when we were trying for ours. And it was competitive: There were a dozen businesses going for them, and we were worried about getting left out.
But, Flo.
Flo made a trip out from Washington to see us.
And we all went to see the mayor. She asked, “What makes a successful cannabis store?”
Flo’s answer?
“Good products. Nice employees. A good location.” It clicked, With the mayor. With us. Flo’s answer. It’s our answer, too.
Our Shop
Starbird is a space in Salem where everyone is welcome, no matter who you are, how you dress, or what you do for a living. That’s the environment we’ve created here. In fact, we’re committed to banishing the old stereotypes of the cannabis culture and to leaning into a future in which high-quality craft cannabis is the standard on the North Shore.
We are proud of our products, proud to say they’re cultivated to the highest standards in the industry.

What can we say? The name just kind of landed on our shoulders, and we loved it right away.
Starbird: A guardian of love and hope that takes the form of a bird at sunrise and a star at dusk. It shines on all who believe in the spirit of those that passed before us who are watching over us.
